The BrightSign XC4055 continues to create a lot of buzz and was consequently recently awarded "Best New Video Wall Processor" by RavePubs at ISE. Our decision for the product of the month March was accordingly easy.

The powerful BrightSign XC5 Series 8K players offer a wide range of features and capabilities to showcase content in stunning ways. With four HDMI outputs and Elite HTML performance twice that of the BrightSign XC2055, the XC4055 offer advanced ways to showcase your content.

Specifically designed on BrightSign's signature solid-state platform, the XC4055s outperform signage PCs in terms of performance, reliability and durability. They allow up to four screens to be powered simultaneously from a single player.

Creating video wall presentations is greatly simplified with multi-output players, and hardware-accelerated 4K video rotation makes it easy to deliver eye-catching multi-screen experiences. Advanced HTML content supporting 3D graphics, Web GL, JavaScript and interactivity in 8K is another application where the XC4055 can truly elevate your signage experience.

BrightSign XC vs. PC comparison

With the BrightSign XC5 series, BrightSign launches its most powerful media player series to date and thus also provides an exciting alternative to PCs, which are still often used in digital signage projects.

The following is a detailed overview of the advantages of the XC compared to PCs:

Security

  • Own OS - no standard Android, Windows or Linux that is a target for attack and has to be secured extensively.
  • High security inbuilt - only certified applications can run at all.
  • Players are certified for highest security applications e.g. BMW, HSBC, Novartis, Bayer, etc.

Operational safety

  • Watchdog at runtime that monitors and repairs all processes
  • No failures due to e.g. accidental power off of the player (safe mode at the PC, BrightSign just plays its project again)
  • No user centered OS - BrightSign will never issue an error message, or prompt the user to acknowledge errors, etc.
  • No problems with different outputs (what is output where, you know this from your desktop PC with multiple monitors, once a screen is unplugged, the configuration changes, etc.).

Performance

  • True 4x 4K60p
  • 8K decoding (not output only). I.e. I can use 8K videos in Canvas, which the player splits and outputs to 4x 4K60p.
  • 10x faster than XT1144 - Optimal performance for complex HTML rendering

Low Maintenance

  • No Windows updates - No intervention required
  • No virus scanner or similar required

Low power consumption

Longevity

  • Players run forever - BrightSign has 100,000 players running for over 10 years
  • Durable models: the XC4055 will be available for the next 4 years
